This is one of the largest Asian Indian Festivals in the Commonwealth of Virginia celebrated annually. This event will provide residents of Hampton Roads, with a population of about 1.6 million, with significant cultural, political, historical, and economic information about India. There will also be exciting opportunities to experience Indian food, shopping and art. Each year the event attracts over 10,000 people.
This will be the sixth year for the Taste of India Event to be celebrated in our area. Please visit the Photo Gallery Section (Links in left SIDEBAR) to view the images of the past years' event.
Hampton Roads has a vibrant and active Asian Indian Community. The community is represented by over 140 Physicians, numerous software and IT professionals, 50 PhD Scientists and Engineers and 30 University Professors.
The Asian Indian-Americans own approximately 90 hotels and 60 small retail businesses locally. Economic impact of Asian Indian community in Hampton Roads is estimated at $140 million.
A BIG THANK YOU TO HAMPTON ROADS FOR MAKING Taste of India 2013 SUCCESS.
The weather was right, cultural program was energetic, on time, and approximately 7500 people came to enjoy the day where we had a chance to showcase our community to the general public of Hampton Roads! It seemed people stayed longer, enjoyed the food and cultural show as well as bought many things our vendors purveyed. We again raised a significant amount for local charities.
